With a website of cornerpocetart.com and a slogan of "Think outside the briefs." you have to wonder what the hell goes on in Boston. Seed Pod No. 9, one in a new series of drawings by Somerville artist Jesa Damora, who, under the pseudonym Belle Wether, has been turning out poster-sized drawings of testicles (scrota, actually) for the past two years. The black-and-white pencil drawings—which are as large as 6 feet by 6 feet—capture every nook, cranny and ridge in stunning photorealistic detail.

These are my drawings, you all. and if you can't laugh at 6-foot scrota, what can you laugh at. Laughter comes from a lot of things, though, doesn't it? Dredging up all that bottomlife, much of it stuff we think is strange or incredible, and bringing it to the surface is what these drawings are all about. Maybe what's strange is that way because we deny it exists. Hell, life can be pretty darn perverse because of what we insist isn't there. I mean, I don't have genitals, do you?
